CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 20, 2019 –  Johnson C. Smith University is one of the nation’s top historically black colleges and universities for healthcare programs. According to, JCSU ranks 23rd out of 66 HBCU’s. Rankings are based on price, transfer rate, graduation rate, school size, student population and program types., an online resource for students training in the medical field, also announcing a scholarship opportunity for students attending the esteemed HBCU’s on their list. Current or future students attending JCSU, majoring in a medical program, can apply for a $1000 scholarship award. To enter, students must write a 500-word essay, be at least 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED, and enrolled in a health program for the semester they apply for the scholarship.
