Northwest Corridor

The Northwest Corridor Revitalization initiative is a broad-based collaborative effort to enhance the quality of life and stimulate the economy of the Beatties Ford Road/Northwest Corridor. The corridor is a major transportation route from uptown Charlotte and serves as the gateway for 37 neighborhoods, many of which are historic.

Mosaic Village

The $25 million 124,000-square-foot mixed-use facility at 1635 West Trade Street features 80 apartment-style suites on four floors and accommodates 300 students.

JCSU Arts Factory

The JCSU Arts Factory features 14,000 square feet of renovated space, designed to guide and nuture the next generation of dancers, artists and performers.

"Passing Through Light"

Located at the I-77 and West Trade Street Underpass, "Passing Through Light" brings a colorful light sequence to the entrance of the Historic West End.


The University has taken a leadership role in the revitalization efforts of the community. JCSU is serving as the facilitator and convener, as well as lending intellectual capital and financial resources to the Northwest Corridor Revitalization Initiative.

The former home of Dr. George E. Davis stands a block from the campus of Johnson C. Smith University and serves as the Foster Village Network Center.
